Valencia, owned by Trevor and Doreen Thomson for 14 years from December 1969, was at 318 Great South Road, Papatoetoe. It was initially a reception lounge catering for weddings and private functions. When it became a licensed restaurant lunches were served from Monday to Friday and dinners 7 nights a week. Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, there was live music. Sunday nights there was a family smorgasbord. Valencia was the first dine and dance restaurant in South Auckland.
